LOST KIDS
For
six years I have been working with stitched forms as part of collages.
This began as a simple desire to stitch papers – readily available
papers. I used the faces from the blue “Lost and Missing Children”
cards we see in the mail and on milk cartons. The stitched pieces
evolved into small children’s garments and flat garments with exaggerated
features. I had to THINK about lost children! The addresses on the
cards suggested the proportions of the hanging forms. Each piece grew
from the materials at hand and elicited heartwarming responses from
viewers. Ideas and inspirations which come from the use of frontal
faces continue to flow – and hang, creating the various series in
this slide show.
